Gearing Up for Summer Reading

It's hard to believe, but SRP 2015 is upon us! With only 35 days left, we've been very busy planning, preparing, and organizing! Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins June 1st. Come into the library to sign up and get your materials. The actual fun (and craziness) begins June 15th, and we're hoping to keep you and your family busy, entertained, and engaged for 8 weeks!

In tandem with Summer Reading, we will also be hosting our Summer Lunch program. Lunch begins June 15th and runs through August 7th. We are partnering with the Lorain County Boys and Girls Club again to offer free summer lunches for kids up to 18 years old. Lunches will be served Monday through Friday at GMPL, Colonial Oaks, and Eaton Estates from 12-1 pm. We hope to see you there!

If you want to take a peek at some of our exciting upcoming summer programs check out our Kids page: http://gmplibrary.org/kidsupcomingprograms.You can start registering today for these programs!

To celebrate the end of our 8 week Summer Reading Program we are having a party for all ages to enjoy! Our Summer Reading Rumpus will be held at Willow Park, and will have all kinds of activities for the whole family. To make this Rumpus as fun and exciting as possible we're bringing people from all over Northeast Ohio! We'll be having a  variety of cool trucks for Touch-a-Truck fun, great live music by Essential Groove, children's homesteading activities provided by Bring the Farm to You, balloon-benders, face painting, a caricature artist and delicious food!

Pizza will be available for purchase at the Rumpus from The Fire Truck Pizza Company. They will be joining us from Cleveland and we promise it won't be like any pizza experience you've had before. As they say, it's a fire truck and a pizza party! The truck features a wood-burning oven imported from Italy, and the original, functioning deck water gun!

We are sure this summer is going to be a great one! Our children's department container garden was started this weekend with more garden programs planned throughout the summer. We'll also be having a few more programs before SRP starts, like our Crafternoon: Bird Feeders. Using household items participants can make their own bird feeders to feed our feathered friends. Join us for this fun program on Monday, May 18th from 4-5pm. Come early while supplies last!

We hope to see you soon !
