A Greyhound of a Girl

There is a ghost in this book, but Tansey is not your average ghost…

Twelve year old Mary O’Hara’s best friend just moved away, she constantly fights with her mother (who uses too many exclamation points!!!), and her granny is dying in the hospital. She’s struggling to say goodbye when an oddly dressed and mysterious young woman, claiming to be the ghost of Mary’s great-grandmother, appears.  She needs Mary’s help.  Soon Mary, her mother, her granny, and her great-grandmother Tansey set off on an unlikey and charming adventure.

Roddy Doyle’s multigenerational story about family relationships, love and saying goodbye is beautifully and simply written.  This is a perfect book for mothers and daughters to read together or for anyone looking for a different sort of ghost story.
